GP Practice Websites

Better practice websites for patients and primary care teams.

Evoqode creates modern GP practice websites that make important healthcare information easier to find, easier to manage and easier to access across mobile, tablet and desktop — with accessibility, patient journeys and long-term maintainability considered from the outset.

WCAG 2.2 AA

Accessibility-led delivery

Mobile-first

Designed around patient devices

Migration included

Standard content migration

No hidden lock-in

Clear ownership and access

The problem

GP websites should reduce friction, not create more of it.

Patients cannot find the right route

Important actions are often buried inside navigation designed around organisational structures rather than patient needs.

Content becomes difficult to maintain

Outdated pages, duplicated information and unclear ownership make even simple changes harder than they should be.

Accessibility is treated too late

Retrofitting accessibility after design and build usually creates more work and produces a less coherent experience.

Practices become dependent on suppliers

Unclear ownership, limited access and opaque support arrangements can make switching or improving systems unnecessarily difficult.

Healthcare standards

Accessibility and clarity built into delivery.

GP practice websites need to support people with different access needs, devices, levels of digital confidence and health literacy. We use WCAG 2.2 AA as the accessibility baseline and consider keyboard access, focus visibility, readable content, responsive behaviour, forms and accessibility statements throughout delivery.

Evoqode is an independent technology provider. References to NHS-aligned design or digital standards do not imply NHS endorsement.

What we focus on

A healthcare website should help people get things done.

Patient-centred structure

Clear information architecture organised around the tasks patients most commonly need to complete rather than internal practice structures.

Mobile-first design

Responsive experiences designed for the phones and tablets patients increasingly use to access healthcare information and services.

Accessibility

Inclusive design and development with WCAG 2.2 AA requirements considered throughout discovery, design, development and quality assurance.

Performance

Fast, efficient pages designed for dependable access across different devices, browsers and connection speeds.

Search & discoverability

Strong technical SEO foundations and structured content to help patients find the right information through search and on-site navigation.

Maintainable content

Practical publishing structures that support readable health information, accessibility statements and easier ongoing content management.

Patient journeys

Make important routes easier to understand.

The website should help patients identify the correct route without forcing them to understand how the practice is organised internally.

Appointments and online consultation
Repeat prescriptions
Test results and investigations
Registering with the practice
Self-referral and local services
Sick notes and administrative requests
Urgent and out-of-hours help
NHS App and digital service signposting

Integrations & signposting

Connect the website to the services you already use.

We can structure patient journeys around your existing digital services rather than asking your practice to replace working systems unnecessarily.

NHS App & national services

Clear signposting to NHS App functionality and relevant national patient services.

Online consultation & triage

Routes into the consultation or triage platform already selected by your practice.

Local healthcare services

Structured signposting to pharmacy, self-referral, urgent care and local service pathways.

The foundations should not be optional extras.

Our standard GP website service includes the core technical, accessibility and operational foundations needed to run the website properly.

Frequently asked questions

What practices usually want to know.

Can you migrate our existing GP practice website?+

Yes. Standard migration is included in our GP Practice Website service. We review your existing content, identify what should be retained, improved or retired and structure it appropriately within the new website. Larger content-restructuring projects can be scoped separately where required.

Who owns our domain and website content?+

We believe practices should retain appropriate control of their digital assets. Domain arrangements, content ownership and access are made clear from the outset. We do not use ownership ambiguity as a way of locking clients into the service.

Can our practice team update the website?+

Yes. Your practice can be given appropriate content-management access for routine updates. If you prefer not to manage content internally, our Managed Healthcare Digital Support service can handle ongoing updates for you.

Do you support WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility requirements?+

Accessibility is built into our design and development approach from the beginning. We use WCAG 2.2 AA as the technical baseline and consider keyboard access, focus visibility, content structure, forms, responsive behaviour and accessibility-statement requirements throughout delivery.

Can the website link to our existing patient services?+

Yes. We can structure and signpost patient journeys to services such as the NHS App, online consultation platforms, prescription services, appointment systems, self-referral services and other approved external systems used by your practice.

Is hosting included?+

Yes. Secure hosting, SSL, routine backups, monitoring and core technical maintenance are included in the standard annual website service.

What happens if we decide to leave Evoqode?+

We aim to avoid unnecessary supplier lock-in. Exit arrangements, domain access and content are handled transparently. Any migration assistance outside the normal service can be scoped clearly if required.

Do you work with PCNs and multiple practices?+

Yes. We can support PCNs, federations and multi-practice groups that need consistent design, shared digital standards and central governance while preserving practice-specific content and services.
